Tai-Chi ( Tai ji)

Tai-Chi is the oldest form of martial arts that anyone can do. Tai-Chi means “Grand Ultimate Fist”, China’s highest form of fighting for self-defense. (Scroll downward to view videos)

Q: So what is Tai-Chi?
A: Tai-Chi is a series of continuous, but gentle circular movements that can generate your inner Chi or energy. Performing this exercise causes the Chi to circulate throughout your body and heal it from the inside.

Q: How does Tai-Chi benefit us?
A: Tai-Chi benefits us by improving one’s overall health, fitness, well-being, and longevity. The flow of this energy is directed throughout our body and is controlled by the forms.

Q: What if I have bad joints, am I still able to do the forms?
A: Yes, Tai-Chi is a great exercise for seniors that have minimal mobility. By performing these forms you will find your mobility will increase along with aches and pains diminishing.

Q: Are there any strenuous movements?
A: Unlike yoga which has complex positions and difficult stretches, Tai Chi is done nice and slow and its movements are subtle and easy to execute. As one form is completed, one can slowly progress to a slightly more advanced form. This way it helps your flexibility.

Q: What if I am unable to stand during the forms?
A: Not to worry, a chair will be provided for you, so you may be able to perform the movements.

The Warriors Den added Tai-Chi to its vast activities so that even the elderly or those with physical disabilities can benefit from this exercise.

Irony: “When our car breaks down, we fix it right away. But when our body breaks down, we ignore it.” Shouldn’t our health and wellbeing be the priority?
